Ancient Egypt Hippopotamus magnet
The people of Ancient Egypt were very aware of the dangers hippos could be to their boats and those working on the rivers. Hippos were represented by the goddess Tauret, who was also a goddess of fertility, represented as a pregnant hippopotamus. Offerings were made to Tauret to settle her angry temper.
Many representations of the hippo were made of blue Egyptian faience, their bodies decorated with representations of the river plants that grew where the animals lived.
Strong and good quality magnet.
